“Samsung Galaxy A50 – presently under testing – will have a waterdrop-style Infinity V notch, triple rear cameras, and in-display fingerprint sensor”
As Samsung Galaxy M series nears it official unveiling, rumours about the mid-range Galaxy A lineup have started hitting the internet more frequently. Now, 91mobiles can exclusively confirm that the Galaxy A50 smartphone will sport a waterdrop-style Infinity V notch as well as triple rear cameras. This information comes to us via a source close to developments around the handset and confirmed that it is presently under testing and will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Galaxy A50 is among the three Galaxy A series models that are rumoured to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, the other two being Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90. These smartphones will have an optical in-display fingerprint sensor that have been used by Chinese brands since last year, not the more accurate ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that is expected to be used on the flagship Galaxy S10 series.
The Infinity V notch will make its debut with the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 on January 28th, but we do know it will look like the waterdrop notch thanks to official teaser images. The notch helps the company maximise the screen size of the smartphone by housing the selfie camera and the requisite sensors in the small cutout atop the screen.
Moving on the cameras, it had previously been reported that the Galaxy A50 will have a 24-megapixel primary sensor, with the report claiming there could be more lenses on the back. Now we can confirm there will be three cameras on the rear panel, though more details about the cameras should become available soon.
A recent Galaxy A50 Wi-Fi Alliance listing shows the handset will support 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, run Android 9 Pie software, and support dual SIM functionality. Other leaked specifications of the handset include a 4,000mAh battery, 64GB and 128GB storage options, 4GB of RAM, and Exynos 9610 SoC. Colour options rumoured for the handset include silver, blue, pink, black, and white. Samsung is said to be planning to launch nine Galaxy A series handsets this year, some of them with 3D Time of Flight (ToF) camera, but it is not clear whether the Galaxy A50 will have this feature too.
