Samsung reveals India price brackets, launch timelines of Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A80

The recent Samsung’s A series smartphones to go official are the Galaxy A80 (first impressions) and the Galaxy A70 (first impressions). Unlike the most A series phones launched up until now, these are relatively high-end models. Talking about their Indian launch, the brand’s Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Ranjivjit Singh has now confirmed to news agency IANS the Galaxy A70 will be launching in India next week in the Rs 25,000 – Rs 30,000 price bracket. On the other hand, the Galaxy A80 has been delayed till May 2019 and will be positioned in the Rs 45,000 – Rs 50,000 range. Announced globally on April 10th, the Samsung Galaxy A80 packs a pop-up rotating triple-camera system, and a full-screen display.

Samsung Galaxy A80 packs a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display and in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s gaming-focused Snapdragon 730G 8nm octa-core processor with Adreno 618 GPU, coupled with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB onboard storage, which is user expandable using a microSD card. The phone dons a 3D glass atop the metal frame on the rear.

The smartphone also features sports horizontally-aligned triple rear cameras up top, with a 48-megapixel f/2.0 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide f/2.2 secondary lens, and a 3D ToF third sensor for depth-of-field. As stated above, the cameras double up as the selfie cameras too, thanks to the rotating camera module – making the Galaxy A90 the first of its kind with as many selfie cameras. The Galaxy A80 is fuelled by a 3,700mAh battery with 25W Super Fast charging support. The handset runs Samsung’s OneUI-based Android 9 Pie out of the box. In terms of connectivity, the phone gets Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and USB Type-C support.

The Samsung Galaxy A70 flaunts a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400-pixels resolution and a waterdrop notch. There is an optical in-display fingerprint sensor underneath the screen. Like the Galaxy A50, the new Galaxy A70 is made using the same 3D Glasstic material. Under the hood, it is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 675 SoC. The device runs on One UI based on Android v9.0 (Pie). It comes in two variants – one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and another with 8GB RAM and same 128GB storage. Moreover, the storage can be expanded via a microSD card.

The Galaxy A70 has three cameras on the back, featuring a 32MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. There is a 32MP shooter on the front. It has a 4,500mAh battery and 25W fast-charging technology, similar to the Galaxy S10 5G. The new Galaxy A70 is available in four colour options, Coral, Blue, Black, and White.
