“The new variant which is targeted at the female demographics is expected to come with an attractive gradient hue”
Samsung launched the world’s first smartphone with a hole in the display for selfie camera, Galaxy A8s in December last year. Apart from being the first punch-hole smartphone, the handset also flaunted a high screen-to-body ratio, triple rear cameras, and an upper mid-range Qualcomm chipset. The chaebol has now announced a new variant of the smartphone called Samsung Galaxy A8s FE.
While the suffix might remind you of the Samsung Galaxy Note9 FE, which stood for Fan Edition it’s not the same for the Samsung Galaxy A8s FE as the letters stand for ‘Female Edition’ in this case. The smartphone maker has plans to launch the latest variant on Valentine’s Day, February 14th in China. Notably, the Galaxy A8s is exclusive to China so far, so that makes sense. As for the spec sheet, there is nothing different from the regular A8s that’s on sale in China at the moment. However, Samsung Mobile China’s CEO showcase the upcoming FE at an event with two new gradient finish – yellow pink and light blue pink (pictured below).
To recap on the spec sheet of the handset, the Samsung Galaxy A8s comes with a 6.39-inch Infinity O display with Full HD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,340p) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The performance of the phone is driven by 10nm Snapdragon 710 chipset clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and 128GB of user expandable storage. In the imaging department, the smartphone offers 24-megapixel (f/1.7) + 5-megapixel (f/2.2) + 10-megapixel sensors on the rear aided by LED flash on the rear and an impressive 24-megapixel shooter on the front. Other features include a 3,400mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a dedicated key for Bixby AI assistant.
While there is no word on the global launch of the smartphone yet, there have been reports that the Galaxy A8s might be launched in South Korea in coming days.
