“The mid-range Android-powered Galaxy A8s smartphone is expected to launch early next year”
For the next few months, all eyes will be on Samsung, as the company is all set to embark the punched-hole style selfie camera in displays to achieve the fancy screen-to-body ratio. The chaebol recently showcased the set of new Infinity displays that has tiny cut-outs for the camera. The panels are likely to debut with next year’s Galaxy S10. However, a new report suggests that Samsung might experiment with its new Infinity O display on the Galaxy A8s smartphone.
The phonemaker has teased the handset at its Galaxy A6s and Galaxy A9s launch event in China, last month. Now, the alleged renders of the Galaxy A8s have surfaced online that reveals a hole atop the display. As can be seen in the images (above), the display assembly of the phone has a “punch hole” – probably for the front camera – at the centre. Samsung is expected to drill it using DPSS (diode-pumped solid-state) laser.
Since the Galaxy A8s will reportedly not have a notch, the phone is expected to have a significantly higher screen-to-body ratio than the current Samsung phones. While it was earlier reported that the first Galaxy smartphones to feature the new Infinity Displays would be the Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90, it now appears the Galaxy A8s would beat them all.
The company hasn’t confirmed the launch date of the Galaxy A8s yet, but we expect it to be early next year during CES 2019.
