Alongside the new Galaxy Note 10 and the Note 10+ (first impressions), Samsung also unveiled its latest product in the notebook segment. The new Samsung Galaxy Book S is a Qualcomm-powered convertible laptop that offers the benefits of a mobile device as well as a laptop. Since this is essentially a mobile device, it features always-on Gigabit LTE connection. It comes with a sleek anodised aluminium chassis and gets a 10-point touchscreen display. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Book S can offer up to 23 hours of battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Book S price is a cool $999 (about Rs 71,000) and it will be available for purchase in September. Samsung did not provide an exact launch date or availability details. The Book S will be available in Earthy Gold or Mercury Grey colour options. 

Samsung Galaxy Book S specifications 

The Samsung Galaxy Book S specifications will not blow your mind. The laptop is meant purely for productivity, not for heavy lifting. It features a 13.3-inch 1080p TFT display with 16:9 aspect ratio and 10-point multi-touch support. It weighs just 0.96 kilos, which makes it very light. Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Book S with the Snapdragon 8cx Compute Platform, which is a 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor. The chipset is 40 percent more powerful and is claimed to offer 80 percent better graphics performance when compared to the Snapdragon 850 chip on the Galaxy Book2.

The Snapdragon 8cx chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB storage. The laptop also features a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB of extra storage. There’s a 720p HD camera up front and a nano SIM slot that supports LTE Cat.18. Other connectivity options include, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The Galaxy Book S also gets AKG powered Stereo speakers, a fingerprint sensor, Light sensor for the keyboard, and a Hall sensor. 

Finally, the Galaxy Book S features a 42Wh battery that Samsung claims can last up to 23 hours of usage. It can be charged using the same charger as the Galaxy Note 10 and other Galaxy S devices. The laptop runs Windows 10 Home/ Pro out of the box.
