Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 appears on certification website ahead of launch

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 (aka Galaxy Z Fold 2) is expected to debut at the Unpacked event that is reportedly set for August 5th. A render of the foldable phone recently surfaced online showing off the punch-hole design, narrow bezels and sharper edges. Now, the Galaxy Fold 2 has been spotted on China’s 3C certification website, thereby revealing it would come with 25W fast-charging support and also 5G connectivity. While that’s the extent of the information we get from the new certification, earlier reports have revealed quite a few details about the Galaxy Fold 2. While there is no confirmation of the handset’s actual name, a separate report suggests that the phone will be called Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. The said handset has also been spotted receiving NFC certification.

According to earlier reports, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is tipped to flaunt a 7.59-inch internal display with 1,689 x 2,213-pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. While the external cover display is slightly bigger this time at 6.23-inch size with 819 x 2,267 pixels resolution. The foldable phone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC coupled with Adreno 650 GPU. The handset is likely to boot Android 10 OS with OneUI custom skin on top and is said to include S-Pen support this time around.

As for the optics, the Galaxy Fold 2 will have a 64MP primary sensor, paired with a 16MP secondary lens, a 12MP lens with dual-optical image stabilisation. It is tipped to pack a 2,275mAh main battery and a 2,090mAh secondary unit, for a 4,365mAh capacity. It could either have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor or an in-screen unit for security. connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync. The Galaxy Fold 2 is said to cost $1,800 (approx Rs 136,450), which is cheaper than the original Fold despite the design improvements.
