Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 battery certified in South Korea

“While the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2’s smaller unit will have a 900mAh capacity the other unit’s capacity is a mystery for now”

Samsung Galaxy Fold will likely have a successor in 2020 as Samsung means to ramp up production of foldable smartphones. The Galaxy Fold 2, as reports are calling it right now, is still a mystery, but a new report now sheds some light on its battery. While the first Galaxy Fold offered two batteries with similar capacities, the Galaxy Fold 2 could come with two batteries with widely different capacities. Galaxy Fold 2 battery units have been certified with model numbers EB-BF700ABY and EB-BF701ABY. The smaller unit will have a 900mAh capacity, while the other unit’s capacity is a mystery for now. In comparison, the Galaxy Fold’s batteries are rated at 2,135mAh and 2,245mAh, which is combined to offer a 4,380mAh unit.

Samsung Galaxy Fold successor is tipped to have a codename ‘Bloom’ and has model number SM-F700F. Unfortunately, the rest of the specifications are under wraps for now, but it is reported to launch in Q3 2020. Samsung is reportedly working on a clamshell foldable phone, but it’s unclear whether this will be the Galaxy Fold 2. The Samsung foldable flip phone is expected to debut in February alongside the Galaxy S11-series at $845 price tag, which would make it cheaper than the original Galaxy Fold.
