Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 line-up later this year in August. The foldable phone’s renders, camera and pricing details have leaked online recently, suggesting that it will look similar to the original Galaxy Fold, but with some upgrades to the design and hardware. Now, according to a SamMobile report, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will arrive in two new colours: Black and Brown, but there could be other options during launch, including the ones the original Fold was offered in. It is currently in development with the model number SM-F916 and will be available with 256GB of base storage.
Separately, the Samsung Galaxy Fold successor will reportedly carry a codename Win2 or Winner2. Another model with codename Winner2 5G is also said to in the works. While the exact identity of these variants is unclear at the moment, the Winner2 might correspond to the purported Galaxy Fold Lite 4G. According to Max Weinbach, the Lite model is said to be aiming at a $1,099 price tag, which is significantly cheaper for compared to the original Galaxy Fold price. Additionally, Weinbach says the display won’t ship with an ‘Ultra-Thin-Glass, and will instead have a similar panel as the original Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Fold Lite 4G will be using an aluminium frame and glass body with a considerably smaller cover display, something similar to the Galaxy Z Flip.
As for the specifications, the said Galaxy Fold Lite 4G is tipped to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with Adreno 650 GPU, and 256GB storage. It will be available internationally but will lack the 5G connectivity and come in Mirror black and purple colour options. Either way, since these are early rumours, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt until more concrete surfaces.
