The Samsung Galaxy Fold (first impression), which made a comeback last month at IFA 2019, has officially been launched in India. Originally announced earlier this year, the Galaxy Fold is an all-new handset with a foldable screen. The phone is said to be more sturdy than ever and boasts two displays – a 7.3-inch dynamic AMOLED foldable display that bends inwards and a secondary 4.6-inch Super AMOLED cover display that works as a primary one when the device is folded. Apart from the foldable display, the other unique features of Galaxy Fold are the six cameras, the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, whopping 12GB of RAM + 512GB onboard storage, and a beefy battery with fast charging support.

Samsung Galaxy Fold price in India has been set at Rs 1,64,999 for the sole option in 12GB + 512GB configuration. Pre-orders for the handset will start on October 4th in India and deliveries scheduled to commence on October 20th. It will come bundled with a carbon fibre case, Samsung Galaxy Buds truly wireless earbuds, and a fast-charger.

Talking about the Galaxy Fold specifications, the handset packs a 7.3-inch foldable display that bears 1,536 x 2,152p resolution and HDR10+ support. The secondary 4.6-inch display features HD+ resolution (720 x 1,680) and has thick bezels all around.  The phone is said to support app continuity feature for a seamless transition between both displays and three-window multitasking, allowing you to utilise a bigger screen estate to open three different supported apps. At the Galaxy Fold’s core lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage onboard. Software-wise, the handset comes running Android 9 Pie-based One UI out of the box.

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy Fold features triple cameras at the back – which comprises of a 12-megapixel primary wide-angle sensor with Dual Pixel AF, OIS, and f/1.5-2.4 aperture + 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor (f/2.2) + 12-megapixel telephoto lens with PDAF, OIS, F2.4, and 2x optical zoom setup. There are dual 10-megapixel (f/2.2) + 8-megapixel (f/1.8) cameras in the notch atop the foldable screen and a 10-megapixel (f/2.2) selfie camera above the secondary display on the front. The entire setup is driven by 4,380mAh battery with 15W fast wired and wireless charging support as well as 9W reverse wireless charging. Samsung Galaxy Fold also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, glass-sandwich design, Dolby Atmos, Samsung DeX, and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, GPS/ GLONASS, and more.
