“The Galaxy Fold is the first foldable smartphone from Samsung with dual displays and as many as six cameras”
Samsung is yet to start shipping its Galaxy Fold smartphone to consumers; however, there seem to be a few units already out there. Now, a new hands-on video of the most-hyped smartphone has surfaced to reveal how it responds in real life. For starters, the Galaxy Fold is the first smartphone from the brand to come with a foldable display, which is why it’s getting all the hype that a device with such caliber deserves.
The hands-on video reveals the Galaxy Fold in action, but very vaguely. The handset seems to be holding up well to most of the tasks, especially the “App Continuity” feature. The feature allows you to pick an app on any screen irrespective of where it was open (the bigger or the smaller display), and the same can be seen on the video – the reviewer opens the YouTube app on the small cover screen and then takes it to the bigger screen by simply unfolding the device. Since the video was not properly recorded, it doesn’t give us a good look at the device.
To recall, the Galaxy Fold sports a 7.3-inch Infinity flex display that bears a notch on the top-right corner and can be folded inwards. The fold reveals the 4.6-inch cover display with huge bezels and takes up about three-fourth of the fascia. The handset is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset, accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 512GB (UFS 3.0) internal storage. In the camera department, it comes with a 16-megapixel + 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel rear camera setup, dual 10-megapixel + 8-megapixel selfie shooter atop the bigger display, and a 10-megapixel snapper on the cover display. Other features include a beefy 4,380mAh battery and a custom UI atop Android Pie.
The Galaxy Fold launch date is just around the corner. The handset is all set to go on sale later this month on April 26th in the US and other selected countries. With a price tag of $1,980 (~Rs 1,47,000), it is the most expensive device from Samsung ever and among the costliest handsets in the market.
