“The Galaxy Fold EU variant will be powered by the Snapdragon 855, but it’s not as fast as the Galaxy S10+”
Earlier this week, a user managed to get his hands on Samsung’s upcoming foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold. While we have already shared some of the details of the device in a previous post, there’s been some more development. The user has shared more about the functionality of the Fold and has answered some questions asked by other users.
XDA Developers’ Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman spoke to the user, who answered some of the questions asked by other users. For example, the Galaxy Fold doesn’t fold completely flat and leaves a small gap in between the two sides. Also, there is a crease in the display where it folds. You cannot really notice it when the screen is at more than 70 percent brightness, but otherwise, you will see it. You can also bend the display and hold it in a 90-degree angle, but that won’t turn on the display.
The smaller display on the outside can run all kinds of apps, including games, without any problems. The Galaxy Fold also supports MST, which means that you can use Samsung Pay. It also features custom wallpapers for the larger screen. The phone runs a slightly newer version of One UI when compared to the version on the Galaxy S10+. The storage speeds on the device are higher than on the 12GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S10+, according to a test result via AndroBench. The device has sequential read speeds of about 1500MB/s and write speeds of 420MB/s.
The software on the Fold also allows for two separate home-screens, allowing users to choose wallpapers for the outer and inner display separately. The Fold can also be bootloader unlocked, if anyone is wondering. That’s pretty much all the new details that the user has given about the Samsung Galaxy Fold. You will soon be able to purchase it in the EU and the US, starting April 26th. Samsung also announced that it would be launching the phone in India as well.
