The smartphone will be exclusively available on Amazon India starting tomorrow for Rs 7,190. The e-commerce giant has confirmed the news on Twitter, and said that the device will come bundled with various launch day offers.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy J1 is an entry-level Android device. The phone comes with a 4.3-inch PLS TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The processor ticking under the hood is a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, coupled with 512MB of RAM. For storage, it is equipped with 4GB of internal memory that is further expandable up to 64GB. Camera features include a 5MP autofocus rear shooter with an LED flash and a 2MP front snapper. It also comes with a Palm Selfie feature that lets you activate a timer to snap a photo. On the connectivity front, the Galaxy J1 offers dual-SIM slots, 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and micro-USB. It is backed by a 1.850mAh battery that is equipped with Ultra Power Saving mode.
If reports are to be believed, Samsung is also working on a quad-core variant of the Galaxy J1. The upcoming variant will have a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU based on 64-bit architecture. Reportedly, there will be two editions of the phone – a single-SIM unit with LTE and dual-SIM model with 3G connectivity.
[Update: February 11th]– The Samsung Galaxy J1 is now available on Amazon India. The phone comes bundled with 3G/2G data worth Rs 600 for the subscribers of Reliance and Aircel, and free Starsports.com content worth Rs 1,400.
