“The new Galaxy J2 comes with a Smart Glow LED ring around the rear camera, which lights up for notifications and more”
In September last year, Samsung released the budget Galaxy J2 (first impressions) smartphone in India. Now the company has launched the 2016 edition of the phone in the country. As suggested by several leaks, the Galaxy J2 2016 sports an LED ring around the rear camera called Smart Glow, which lights up for notifications, calls and battery alerts etc. The Smart Glow LED ring lets you colour-code four of your contacts, apps and phone usage alerts. It sports a selfie assist feature, which illuminates the LED ring by detecting the face when capturing selfies using the rear camera.
Coming to the other specs, the Samsung Galaxy J2 sports a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display. The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, aided by 1.5GB of RAM. It comes with Turbo Speed Technology, which the brand claims can boost the phone’s speed to make apps load faster and make multitasking smoother. For storage, it gets 8GB of internal memory, further expandable via a microSD card.
The Galaxy J2 features an 8-megapixel primary snapper with the Smart Glow and a regular LED flash. For selfies and video calling, it gets a 5-megapixel front shooter. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB and A-GPS. A 2,600mAh battery powers the whole package.
Software-wise, the Samsung Galaxy J2 runs Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box, and comes with S bike mode and Ultra Data Saving mode. The phone has been priced at Rs 9,750, and will be available starting July 14th in Golden, Silver and Black variants. It comes with a six month double data offer for Airtel users worth up to Rs 4,500.
