“Samsung seems to be planning to release the Android Oreo update to the Galaxy J7 Max/ Galaxy On Max smartphone in the near future”
Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy J7 Max smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat. Now it looks like the company is all set to release the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the smartphone in the near future. Ahead of the new firmware’s rollout, the Galaxy J7 Max has just been certified by Wi-Fi Alliance running Android 8.0 Oreo. Notably, the Galaxy J7 Max’s online-exclusive variant that’s called Galaxy On Max has also received the same certification.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy On Max have been certified running Android Oreo with the model number SM-615F/DS and SM-G615FU/DS respectively. It looks like the testing of the Android Oreo update for these smartphones is in the final stages of testing. Earlier reports had suggested that the Galaxy J7 Max / Galaxy On Max will be receiving the Android Oreo update in February next year. However, since the phones have been certified running the new firmware, we can expect them to receive the Oreo treatment before the rumoured timeline.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Max was launched in India in June last year, and is available for around Rs 15,000 via major brick and mortar stores across the country. In July, the company released the Galaxy On Max as an online-exclusive variant of the J7 Max. The On Max is currently retailing for Rs 11,990 on the e-commerce portals as well as the brand’s e-store.
