[Exclusive]: Samsung Galaxy M20 display panel with waterdrop notch leaked

“Samsung Galaxy M20 display panel leaked live image shows it will have thin bezels on the sides and top as well as curved edges on the sides”

Samsung Galaxy M20 has been in the rumour mill for several weeks now as one of the first smartphones the South Korean brand will be launching as part of its new Galaxy M series. Now, 91mobiles has received an image of the Galaxy M20 display panel from a source who is close to the development. The image shows Samsung will be using a waterdrop-type notch in the front to accommodate the front camera and sensors in order to maintain a full-screen profile for the Galaxy M20 handset.

The image shows the Galaxy M20 will have a large display that curves on the sides and has a more premium look than the Galaxy J and Galaxy On series handsets it is rumoured to replace. The chin is relatively thicker, and the small cutout on the top of the display is for the single selfie camera. We can expect a high screen-to-body ratio from the smartphones.

The waterdrop notch (we can expect Samsung to use its own term for this) is a surprise since it was not among the display designs the company has teased previously. It was first introduced by OPPO and has since been adopted by several Chinese brands. Samsung had teased the Infinity O, Infinity U, Infinity V, and New Infinity displays at the event where it demoed its foldable smartphone.

Previous leaks have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy M20 smartphone will run on the Exynos 7885 mid-range SoC, backed by 3GB of RAM. This chipset will have eight cores and 1.6GHz clock speed, according to Geekbench listing. An Antutu listing of the smartphone shows it will have 32GB internal storage and 1,080 x 2,340 pixel resolution. It was spotted with Android 8.1 Oreo software version in both benchmarking apps.

We had reported earlier this week that Samsung has kicked off the mass production of the Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 smartphones in India. The two smartphones are being produced at the company’s Noida factory and the launch can be expected in early 2019. These two smartphones are part of the brand’s plans to revamp the portfolio by March next year as it faces pressure from Chinese rivals.
