Blind camera comparison 48MP edition: Samsung Galaxy M30s vs Realme 5 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro

If you have been wanting to pick a smartphone in the past few months, chances are you’d have been confused by a barrage of phones flaunting 48-megapixel primary camera. It was just in January this year when we saw the first phone with a 48MP shooter on the back, but now it’s available across price points. The latest brand to join the bandwagon is Samsung with the launch of its Galaxy M30s smartphone. The phone locks horn directly with other budget 48MP phones in its price segment namely the Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The trio flaunts the same 48MP camera on the back, with the Redmi Note 7 Pro also offering a secondary shooter, whereas the M30s having triple-camera setup. The Realme 5 Pro, however, goes even a step ahead by packing quadruple cameras. With all of these devices priced under Rs 15k, you must be wondering which one is actually the best smartphone to capture 48MP shots. Well, that’s why we’re here as we’ve shot a variety of scenes with these phones and now are turning to you to be the judge and vote on the shot you feel looks the best in the polls below. Come back in a few days to check out which of the three phones come out on the top.

P.S. All images have been shot using the 48MP mode and 4:3 aspect ratio. Additionally, the images have been resized for the web, and you could view them in the original resolution here.

Shot 1

The first shot in this series is of the tomb situated in Lodhi Garden, New Delhi during the morning. However, there was a slight overcast on this particular day, which led to devices differing in the way they handle shadows, highlights and dynamic range. Take a look at the shots below and vote for the one which you liked the most.

The next image is of the iconic monument in Delhi, India Gate. We consider the historical monument to be an ideal subject to test thanks to its brick-yellow structure and intricate text engraving. On this particular day, thanks to the overcast sky, the structure presented a pleasant contrast and here are our shots from the trio.

The best testament of how well a camera focuses is to click macro shots or in layman’s terms, closeup images. We decided to photograph a bright red flower up close to give you an idea of how well these phones handle colour accuracy and details when the distance between the subject and lens is reduced.
