Samsung Galaxy S10 variants reportedly certified by China’s CMIIT

“Samsung is reportedly readying three models for its upcoming Galaxy S10 series”

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series has been thriving for nearly a decade now. Early next year, Samsung will release the 10th edition of the Galaxy S range, currently known as the Galaxy S10. While the launch is expected to be a few months away, we now have an official listing of the handset from China, detailing what we can expect from the Samsung Galaxy S10. China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) has listed three variants of the smartphone on its website, and the model numbers confirm with those previously tipped to be of the Samsung Galaxy S10.

These are believed to be China-specific models, denoted by the extra zero at the end. Unfortunately, CMIIT certification doesn’t reveal the key specifications of smartphones, and usually only has details of network and bands support.

That said, leaks in the past have hinted that Samsung would be coming up with three Galaxy S10 devices next year. The cheapest of them will bear a 5.8-inch flat display and come with a single rear camera and could be named Galaxy S10 Lite. The standard Galaxy S10 would also feature a 5.8-inch panel (curved), however, it will get dual rear camreas. The third one will be an all out flagship with five cameras – three at the back and two at the front. Notedly, Samsung will also be releasing a 5G-ready variant of the top model for specific countries in limited quantities.

In earlier leaks, the Galaxy S10 top variant has been reported to feature a 12-megapixel primary sensor with dual aperture lens of f/1.5 and f/2.4 and OIS support, a secondary sensor with 16-megapixel resolution and f/1.9 aperture, and another 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture and OIS. Notably, the additional sensor on the S10 will be an ultra-wide lens with 123-degree field of view for more peripheral vision. The smartphone is said to be powered by the Exynos 9820 SoC with 8GB of RAM, and run custom version of Android Pie out of the box. The top storage variant is said to have 512GB of internal storage.

At the moment, a lot remains unknown regarding the handset’s design and hardware features. However, we’re currently in October and we should soon see the above-mentioned handsets go through other certification sites such as TENAA soon, which could reveal a lot about Samsung Galaxy S10 variants.
