“The Galaxy S10 is expected to be the upcoming flagship smartphone powered by 8nm Exynos 9820 SoC from Samsung”
A Samsung phone with model number SM-G975F running on the new Exynos 9820 SoC has been spotted on benchmarking site Antutu. This is the first time the latest 8nm LPP FinFET semiconductor from the chaebol has been put through paces. As per the Antutu listing, the alleged Exynos 9820-powered device has managed to outclass Huawei’s newest 7nm Kirin 980 chipset on the Mate 20 Pro. It should be noted that the model number SM-G975F is likely to be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10+.
The Galaxy S10+ with Exynos 9820 SoC scored 3,25,076 points on Antutu, which is slightly higher than its rival Mate 20 Pro Kirin 980 processor’s 3,09,628 benchmark score. At the time of the chipset launch, Samsung claimed that the new Exynos chipset will deliver 20 percent single-core and 15 percent multi-core performance gain, and it seems like the premium mobile platform is living up to its reputation.
Apart from this, the Antutu result has also spilt the beans over the specifications of the Galaxy S10+ smartphone. It reveals that Samsung will stick to 6GB RAM for its base model which is accompanied by 128GB of storage. There’s also the Mali-G76 MP12 graphics processor, which promises a 40 percent improvement in performance compared to that of its predecessor. Lastly, the handset is said to come with a screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,280 pixels which are generally found in a 6-inch tall display.
The 10th anniversary Galaxy S-series is speculated to come with several major upgrades, including a high screen-to-body ratio display. Though we haven’t seen the render of the smartphone yet, it’s speculated to come with a drilled selfie camera Infinity O display that Samsung unveiled recently.
The handsets are expected to launch at next year’s MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. In the meantime, it seems like the phonemaker is getting all the clearance certificate for the Galaxy S10-series. The devices were recently certified by a Russian agency with model numbers SM-G975F and SM-G975X. We’ll bring you more details about the offerings as and when it’s there.
