“Samsung Galaxy S10 series shipments are expected to hit 60 million globally by the end of the year

Samsung’s newest flagships, the Galaxy S10 series, may turn out to be a success for the company. According to a new report citing supply chain sources, the Galaxy S10 shipments in 2019 will hit 60 million units. This would give the new flagships a  to surpass last year’s Galaxy S9’s sales figures. Interestingly, the estimation comes amidst the report that suggests the smartphone market will keep shrinking for at least another year.

Its been over a month since the launch of Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e smartphones. So far, they have managed to do well in terms of pre-orders across China and the US. DigiTimes estimates that the shipments of Galaxy S10 trio will be 10-15 percent higher than those of Galaxy S9 models. With this, Samsung will be able to ship 60 million units in the calendar year.

“The Galaxy S10 family products provided a glimpse into how Samsung is going to do to maintain its lead in sales of smartphone hardware products leveraging new product design, marketing and supply chain management in order to fend off competition from China’s rivals including Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo,” according to the report.

Samsung’s shrewd strategy and its upcoming 5G ecosystem are said to help the vendor maintain the leading position in the smartphone market. In addition to the flagship models, the company also tweaked its plans for the mid-range segment. It now seems to be emphasising on “high price/ performance ratios, multi-lens design, with built-in AI applications and multi-scenario mode.” The newly launched Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A50 smartphones are in line with its new strategy. They all come with improved immersive viewing experience, longer battery life, and optimised camera functionality.
