“Samsung Galaxy S11 series will reportedly have three modes: one with 60Hz refresh rate, another with 120Hz as default, and the last with automatic switching between 60Hz and 120Hz”
Samsung Galaxy S11 is the most-anticipated flagship and is tipped to launch on February 18th, ahead of MWC 2020. The flagships are expected to feature a 20:9 aspect ratio, as revealed through the HTML5 browser test. The Galaxy S11 series is also rumoured to come in three different models, including the Galaxy S11e, the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11 Plus which are expected to come with 6.2/6.4, 6.7 and 6.9-inch display sizes, respectively. There have been rumours of the handset featuring 120Hz display, but now we have a confirmation of sorts on this front.
Samsung Galaxy S11 120Hz display
Noted tipster Ice Universe has posted screenshots of a hidden menu from the One UI 2.0 Chinese beta build on the Galaxy Note 9, which was rolled out just a day ago. This has a mention of a 120Hz refresh rate and contains three options — one that retains the 60Hz refresh rate, another with 120Hz enabled by default, and, lastly, an option to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz.

Given the recent trend of higher refresh rates on premium smartphones, it doesn’t come as a surprise. Though the UI animations and interactions feel smooth, it comes at the cost of battery life. At the moment, it isn’t confirmed if Samsung would indeed introduce the 120Hz refresh rate for real, but there are good chances of that happening.
Separately, the Samsung Galaxy S11 is expected to bring a new 108MP primary rear camera and new features like Night Hyperlapse, Director’s View, Vertical Panorama, 8K recording, and more. The Galaxy S11 series is expected to be powered by the Exynos 990 SoC. The handsets are likely to run on Android 10 with One UI 2.0 custom skin on top. Samsung is also expected to introduce Deep Fusion camera feature on the Galaxy S11. Since the said launch is still months away from now, we hope to come across more information soon.
