  • Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S22 series in January 2022.

Key information about the Galaxy S22 camera specs and launch date have emerged online. Sammobile has revealed that the Galaxy S22 series will get a 200MP camera, complete with Olympus branding. The report also suggests that the Galaxy S22 launch date will happen sometime in January 2022, similar to what we saw with the Galaxy S21 series. This sits in line with leaks from earlier, which prophesised that the vanilla Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22 Plus would get 50MP triple rear cameras, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra would feature 200MP quad-rear cameras. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra may not be the first smartphone to run the said camera sensor. Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 12 series is likely to feature it first.

Samsung Galaxy S22 specifications – everything we know so far

A report from earlier told us that the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra will sport 6.06-inch, 6.55-inch, and 6.81-inch screens, respectively. If the Galaxy S21 series is anything to go by, only the S22 Ultra will get a 1440p 120Hz screen, with the remaining models restricted to 1080p 120Hz. At the very least, all three models will likely use the same AMOLED panel. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also rumoured to carry on its predecessor’s legacy and support S Pen inputs.

Moving on to the innards, all three Galaxy S22 devices will ship with Samsung’s new Exynos 2200 SoC, which is expected to run AMD’s new mRDNA2-based GPU. However, there has been some contention about just which variant will actually get the mRDNA2 GPU, with multiple sources suggesting that the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus could be excluded.
