Samsung Galaxy S25 FE could stick to the same processor as its predecessor

Highlights
  • Samsung won’t be upgrading the Galaxy S25 FE’s chipset as per a leak.
  • It is expected to launch later this year.
  • The S25 FE could come with slight differences compared to the flagship Galaxy S25 series.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE was announced in September last year. The South Korean brand is reportedly working on its successor – the Galaxy S25 FE. The Fan Edition models are a toned-down version of the more premium Galaxy S-series variants. Although key details remain scarce, a new report by Android Authority reveals the processor powering the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE and it comes as a disappointment for fans.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE processor leaked

  • Citing reliable sources, Android Authority spotted the details of the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE in a code.
  • The South Korean brand’s Galaxy FE smartphones have internal codenames that start with ‘R‘.
  • The upcoming Galaxy S25 FE has a codename siop_r13s_s5e9945
  • Additionally, the string of codes also mentions the past two Galaxy FE models.
  • The r11q and r11s refer to the S23 FE’s Exynos and Snapdragon processor variants. Meanwhile, the r12s is the current-generation Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (review).
  • As per the codenames, the R12 and R13 are listed with the same S5E9945 processor which is a part number of the Exynos 2400/2400e

  • This suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will employ the Exynos 2400e chipset as its predecessor. This chipset was announced in September last year, and a slightly down-clocked version of the Exynos 2400 powering the Galaxy S24 series.
  • If this turns out to be true, the company won’t be upgrading the SoC in this year’s Fan Edition model. While the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to serve as a more affordable alternative to the flagship lineup, the lack of a chipset upgrade is still somewhat disappointing.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE has been rumoured multiple times to be equipped with the same processor.
  • So it seems that the South Korean chaebol could adopt Exynos 2400e on its Fan Edition phones this year.

There are still a few months for the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE’s launch, so things might change. The Exynos 2400e is a upper mid-range chipset based on 4nm process and has a 10-core setup. To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE launched last September at a starting price tag of Rs 59,999.
