“The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ get their second price drop in India”
Samsung launched its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ (review) at an event in New York last year. The flagships later landed in India carrying price tags of Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900, respectively. Within a few months of the launch, both smartphones received their first price cuts (Rs 4,000) and were available at Rs 53,900 and Rs 60,900 respectively.
Now, the South Korean giant has further dropped the price of Galaxy S8 by Rs 3,910 and of S8+ by Rs 6,910, thus bringing their prices down to Rs 49,990 and Rs 53,990 respectively. The new prices are applicable both online and offline. In addition to the price cut, the brand is also offering a cashback of Rs 10,000 on both models if purchased from Paytm. The cashback will be available over and above the price cuts and is applicable to all variants of these smartphones. Interested folks can pick the handsets from Samsung’s online store, Flipkart, Paytm and leading retail stores. Samsung is offering the devices in four hues – midnight black, coral blue, maple gold and orchid grey.
For the uninitiated, the Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display and is powered by an Exynos 8895 octa-core processor with 4GB RAM. In the optics department, the smartphone gets a 12-megapixel shooter on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The phone boots Android Nougat out of the box and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. The bigger Galaxy S8+ retains the spec sheet, but comes with a larger 6.2-inch panel and a bigger 3,500mAh battery. The storage capacity on board is 64GB, further expandable up to 256GB. The phones are also IP68-certified for dust- and water-resistance.
The latest price cut comes as an aftermath to the launch of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ (review) in India. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is priced at Rs 57,900 for the 64GB variant, while its 256GB model will set you back by Rs 65,900. The 64GB Galaxy S9+ costs Rs 64,900, while its 256GB variant is being offered for Rs 72,900. Samsung then went on to launch the 128GB variants of both these handsets in the country, with a price tag of Rs 61,900 for Galaxy S9 and Rs 68,900 for Galaxy S9+.
