Samsung lists the foldable Galaxy X on its support page

“The Samsung Galaxy X is expected to be foldable like a wallet”

It is no secret that Samsung has been experimenting with foldable display tech for smartphones for a while now. The curved display on Galaxy S flagships and the failed Samsung Galaxy Round are the off-springs of the very same innovation. However, it seems now that a true-blue foldable smartphone is in the works as Samsung has listed a device with the SM-G888N0 model number on the support page of its Korean website, which is expected to be much rumoured Samsung Galaxy X.

If you are tech enthusiast, you already know that Samsung Galaxy X has been in the works for a while now and already got certification from the Bluetooth SIG, and from South Korea’s National Radio Agency. However, the support page listing on the Samsung page confirms that it’s now closer to reality. However, it’s being speculated that initially the device will see a pilot launch on Samsung’s home soil with only 1,00,000 units being manufactured to test the waters. According to the previous rumours, the device is expected to be shipped with a foldable 4K screen with a diamond PenTile subpixel arrangement. The design of the device will be such that it can be easily folded in half like a wallet. Unfortunately, no other details regarding the handset is available at this point.

It is being speculated that the brand might announce the new device at CES to be held in January, or as is customary with high-end devices from the brand, at a private event in US. With Samsung working on flexible OLED displays called YOUM displays since 2013, it would be interesting to see how the upcoming Galaxy X shapes up. It might not be able to take on stalwarta like Apple iPhone X (review), but it might give the newly launched foldable ZTE Axon M some serious competition.
