Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s with rugged design and 5-inch HD display leaked

“The Samsung Galaxy XCover 4s comes as a successor to last year’s Galaxy XCover 4 smartphone and has US military standard MIL-STD 810G certification”

Samsung launches its rugged smartphones in the Galaxy XCover series each year, though it has a limited reach. Last month, it was revealed that the lineup will be getting a new handset, allegedly dubbed as Galaxy XCover 4s. Even though it’ll be a fifth-gen Xcover smartphone, Samsung is expected to launch it with ‘s’ moniker instead of Galaxy XCover 5 – probably, because it sports the same design as its predecessor the Galaxy XCover 4? Ahead of its release, the specifications and renders of Galaxy XCover 4s have been leaked, courtesy WinFuture.

As per the report, the Galaxy XCover 4S, just like its predecessor, will boast of MIL-STD 810G certification for military-grade durability. The handset will also be IP68 certified for dust- and water-resistance. All-in-all, it’ll have a rugged design, with thick-bezels surrounding the display and a center-aligned single camera on the back panel that has texture on it to offer a secure grip. The right spine has a power button, while on the left edge you’ll have volume cover and XCover key can be configured to quickly access any app or function.

The specifications of Galaxy Xcover 4S suggest it will be positioned firmly in the budget segment. The handset is tipped to come with a standard 5-inch HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The phone will have it in its core an Exynos 7885 1.6 GHz octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage, which can be further expandable using a microSD card.

In terms of camera, the phone will reportedly feature a single 16-megapixel with sensor f/1.7 aperture lens and LED flash on the rear. The camera is likely to be assisted by AI-based scene optimization, full HD videos support, and other features. The front-facing camera could feature a 5-megapixel shooter with f/2.2 aperture and screen flash. A 2,800mAh battery with USB Type C charging support is expected to fuel the device. While Android OS version running on Galaxy XCover 4s is known at the moment, it’s reported to come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy XCover 4s smartphone in the European markets around June 12th, and the handset may carry a price tag of €250 (~Rs 19,500).
