Samsung smartphone users worldwide receive mysterious ‘1’ notification

“Samsung’s Find My Mobile service allows Galaxy phone users to remotely locate or lock devices, back up storage to cloud, format data, and even block access to Samsung Pay”

Samsung smartphone users worldwide have received a puzzling notification from Samsung’s ‘Find My Mobile’ app. The alert just read ‘1’ and another ‘1’ right below it – the notification was apparently received by serval users. However, tapping the notification didn’t do anything beyond just closing the notification shade. For those unaware, Samsung’s Find My Mobile service allows Galaxy phone users to remotely locate or lock their devices, back up storage to cloud, format data, and even block access to Samsung Pay, which explains why many users were concerned about this mysterious notification.

However, hours later, Samsung clarified that the message was sent unintentionally during an internal test. “Recently, a notification about “Find My Mobile 1″ occurred on a limited number of Galaxy devices. This was sent unintentionally during an internal test, and there is no effect on your device. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers,” Samsung Official UK Twitter handle noted.

Samsung isn’t the first company to push such mysterious notifications to a broader audience. OnePlus back in 2019 had accidentally sent out a random text and Chinese characters to users, which in turn was a failed internal test for a software update. Either way, since it was a random notification during an internal inspection, we suggest you not worry much about it.
