September is over and we’re in the last quarter of the year. We saw some big launches last month, the highlight being the iPhone 13 series launch. In the Android space, tons of new phones were launched in India. We got the Vivo X70 series. Meanwhile, Samsung brought a couple of smartphones in the mid-range segment, including Galaxy A52s, Galaxy F42 5G, and Galaxy M52 5G. Further, Motorola released its top-of-the-line Edge 20 Pro in India. Xiaomi and Realme also released affordable Redmi 10 Prime, Realme 8 series, and Narzo 50 series. We also saw several Snapdragon 778G phones in India like the iQOO Z5 and Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. Let’s have a quick look at the phones launched in September 2021.
iPhone 13 series
The Cupertino giant returned with four new iPhones the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro. These iPhone 13 models have brought minor upgrades over the last generation. The new A15 Bionic chipset powers the iPhone 13 models. Further, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max features a 120Hz ProMotion display. The iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 comes with a 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch OLED XDR FHD+ display; meanwhile, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max sport a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch XDR OLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Also, the notch is 20 per cent small compared to the previous generation iPhones.
All the iPhone 13 models improve on the battery life compared to last year’s iPhone 12 series. On the optics front, the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 get 12MP + 12MP dual rear cameras, whereas the iPhone 13 Pro duo comes with a 12MP + 12MP + 12MP triple rear camera setup. All four new iPhone 13 models feature a 12MP front-facing camera. The iPhone 13 mini and 13 comes with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage option while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max also gets a 1TB storage variant in addition of other three options.
The iPhone 13 mini price in India starts at Rs 69,900, while the iPhone 13 starts at Rs 79,900 for the base 128GB storage option. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max retails at Rs 1,19,990 and Rs 1,29,900 for the base 128GB storage variant.
iQOO Z5
The iQOO Z5 comes as a successor to this year’s iQOO Z3. The iQOO Z5 sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ LCD panel with a punch-hole cutout. The Snapdragon 778G processor powers the smartphone. The chipset inside is paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. It comes with a triple rear camera setup, including a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW3 primary camera, an 8MP wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, it has a 16MP snapper for selfies. The smartphone boasts a 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. The iQOO Z5 is priced at Rs 23,990 for the base 8GB+128GB storage variant and Rs 26,990 for the 12GB+256GB option.
Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G
Xiaomi introduced the successor to the Mi 11 Lite 4G in India, dubbed Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G. The smartphone weighs 158 grams and measures 6.81mm in thickness. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G comes with a 6.55-inch FHD+ 10-bit AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and Dolby Vision support. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It packs a 4,250mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G features a 64MP triple rear camera setup and a 20MP camera on the front for selfies. It runs MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11. The Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G retails at Rs 26,999 for the 6GB+128GB storage model and Rs 28,999 for the 8GB+128GB option.
Vivo X70 series
After introducing its flagship series in China and other regions of the globe, Vivo announced the X70 series in India. However, Vivo announced just two smartphones in India under the X70 lineup, the X70 Pro and X70 Pro+. The Vivo X70 Pro comes with a 6.56-inch FHD+ 120Hz Samsung E5 AMOLED display, Mediatek Dimensity 1200 processor, 50MP quad rear cameras, and 4,550mAh battery with support for 44 watts fast charging. The Vivo X70 Pro+ features a 6.78-inch QHD+ Samsung E5 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate display.
Under the hood, the X70 Pro+ is powered by Snapdragon 888+ chipset paired with up to to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The X70 Pro+ comes with a quad-camera setup consisting of a 50MP GN1 sensor, 40MP IMX598 sensor, a 12MP depth sensor, and an 8MP periscope camera. It boasts a 4,500mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging. Both the smartphones run Android 11 based FunTouch 11 custom skin.
The Vivo X70 Pro starts at Rs 46,990 for the base 8GB+128GB storage option. The single 12GB+256GB sotrage variant of Vivo X70 Pro+ costs Rs 79,990.
Samsung Galaxy A52s
The Samsung Galaxy A52s comes as an upgrade over the Galaxy A52 with some minor differences. The Galaxy A52s features a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. The smartphone boasts a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. The Galaxy A52s comes with a quad rear camera setup comprising a 64MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 123-degrees FoV, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 5MP depth sensor. It has a 32MP front-facing camera. It runs OneUI 3.1 on top of Android 11. The Samsung Galaxy A52s starts at Rs 35,999 in India.
Redmi 10 Prime
The Redmi 10 Prime comes as a successor to last year’s Redmi 9 Prime with some major upgrades. The Redmi 10 Prime sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It is powered by the Mediatek Helio G88 processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11. It comes with a quad rear camera setup, including a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has an 8MP camera for selfies. It boasts a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Redmi 10 Prime retails at Rs 12,499 for the base 4GB+128GB variant and s 14,499 for the 6GB RAM+128GB storage option.
Realme 8i and Realme 8s
Realme announced two new members of the Realme 8 series last month, the Realme 8i and Realme 8s. Both smartphones are budget-oriented devices. The Realme 8i comes with a. 6.6-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Mediatek Helio G96 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, 50MP triple camera and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The Realme 8i features a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ display, Dimensity 800 SoC with up to 6GB RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. The Realme 8s comes with a triple camera setup led by a 64MP main camera. It boasts a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. Both the smartphones run Android 11 based RealmeUI 2.0. The Realme 8i and Realme 8s start at Rs 13,999 and Rs 17,999, respectively.
Samsung Galaxy F42 5G
The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G comes as the rebranded Galaxy Wide5. The Galaxy F42 5G is powered by Mediatek Dimensity 700 processor paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It features 6.6-inch FHD+ OLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The Galaxy F42 comes with a triple rear camera setup, including a 64MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro shooter; meanwhile, it has an 8MP camera on the front for selfies.The Samsung Galaxy F42 5G retails for Rs 20,999 for the 6GB + 128GB storage variant and Rs 22,999 for the 8GB + 128GB option.
Samsung Galaxy M52 5G
Last month Samsung announced the successor to the Galaxy M51, the Galaxy M52 5G. The Galaxy M52 5G sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G powers the smartphone. The chipset under the hood is paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It features a triple rear camera setup comprising a 64MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth sensor along with a 32MP camera on the front. The smartphone boasts a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G starts from Rs 29,999.
Realme Narzo 50A, Narzo 50i
The Realme Narzo 50A comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ display, Mediatek Helio G58 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. It runs Realme UI 2.0 on top of Android 11. The smartphone packs a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. It features a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP B&W sensor. It gets an 8MP camera on the front for selfies. Meanwhile, the Realme Narzo 50i is an entry-level offering. The Narzo 50i comes with a 6.5-inch LCD with HD+ resolution, an unnamed octa-core processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, an 8MP rear and a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for reverse charging. The Realme Narzo 50A and 50i start at Rs 11,499 and Rs 7,499, respectively.
These were some of the launches in the month of September. However, a couple of brands also released a few entry-level smartphones in September, such as Poco C31, Realme C25Y, and Tecno Spark 8.
