Sonor Arc soundbar is quite popular among the audiophiles. It looks like the brand is working on a new model, reportedly codenamed ‘Lasso’ and this might be built on the current model. Now, 91mobiles has exclusively spotted the Sonos Lasso on the FCC and UL Demko certification platforms. This reveals the model number S45 and suggests the launch could be near.
The next Sonos soundbar is coming soon
- The next Sonos flagship soundbar is a wireless smart speaker that offers Bluetooth and 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz WLAN connectivity.
- The FCC ID mentioned is SBVRM045 and is assembled in China.
- The listing confirms the software version installed in the EUT (equipment under testing) is 79.0-49191-main and input power: 100-240V 50-60Hz 3.5A.
- The UL Demko has listed this under the ‘Advanced Smart Sound Bar, Accessory Wall Mount’. This reveals the model number S45.
- While both the FCC and UL Demko listings don’t reveal anything substantial about the soundbar, a report from The Verge has revealed quite a bit, including the live images.
Sonos Lasso: what we know so far
The Verge report notes the soundbar will have the codename Lasso and is currently under limited beta testing. The live images suggest the exterior design of the new soundbar has a strong resemblance to the Arc soundbar. However, the internals like components and speaker drivers are expected to be completely improved.
The Sonos Lasso would be the first product from the brand to integrate technology from Mayht, a Netherlands-based startup that the company acquired in 2022. Citing sources, the report notes that it’s a challenge to make Mayht’s transducer system more cost-efficient, as it uses “expensive” neodymium magnets.
The report notes the upcoming soundbar will deliver improved bass performance than the predecessor. The image reveals the soundbar could have a dedicated Bluetooth button, suggesting the Lasso may have Bluetooth audio playback. There could be a physical switch for disabling the built-in microphones. The Lasso soundbar could work with the Sonos Ace headphones for private listening with spatial audio.
The Bloomberg report noted that Sonos Lasso could cost upwards of $1,200 (approx Rs 1,00,800). The soundbar is expected to launch later this year but the timeline could change.
