“Select Sony Xperia Z series smartphones are finally getting the Android KitKat treatment” Sony has just officially announced an Android 4.4 KitKat update for three Xperia Z series phones. The company has confirmed the news on its blog and revealed that the Sony Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and the Z Ultra smartphones are finally getting the KitKat treatment.
According to the official change-log, the Android 4.4 KitKat update for these devices comes with performance and user interface optimisations. The status bar and quick settings have been tweaked with a customisable and more intuitive look. It comes with a new launch animation and live wallpapers across the home and lock screens. Sony’s entire native app portfolio has been updated to their latest versions. Sony’s media applications including Walkman, Album and Movies are now integrated with Sony Entertainment network’s cloud service. The update is being released in phases, so not everyone will be getting it at the same time. You should turn on the automatic software update option in the settings area of your devices to get a notification when it is available. In addition to the change-log, Sony has also announced that the same update is coming in mid-Q2 for the Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z. The Japanese manufacturer also stated that the KitKat update for Sony Xperia T2 Ultra (officially launched in India today), Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 is in development and will be available soon. Source
