Sony Xperia XZ1 expected to launch in India on September 25th

Last month, Sony took to the stage at IFA in Berlin to introduce its latest flagship smartphones called the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. Now it appears that the company is all set to launch these devices in India. The brand has sent a “Block your date” invite to Indian media for an even scheduled for September 25th. While the brand hasn’t given any clues regarding the device(s) to be unveiled at the event, 91mobiles has learned that the company will be releasing the Xperia XZ1 in the country.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 (first impressions) flaunts the brand’s OmniBalance design, which features thick bezels, especially at the top and bottom. The phone boasts IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and gets a fingerprint sensor embedded into its power button. The device utilises the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, mated to a beefy 4GB of RAM. The storage capacity on board is 64GB, which can be further increased up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card.

The Xperia XZ1 gets a 5.2-inch full HD TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality engine for mobile and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone sports a 19-megapixel primary Motioneye shooter with f/2.0, electronic image stabilisation, f/2.0 aperture and 960fps slow-mo recording. For the selfies, there’s a 13-megapixel shooter present with HDR support and f/2.0 aperture. In terms of connectivity, you get 4G LTE, VoLTE, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and GPS. A 2,700mAh battery keeps the phone running, boasting support for Quick Charge 3.0 and Adaptive Charging.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 boots Android Oreo, and is one of the first handsets running Google’s latest mobile OS out of the box. There’s no word regarding the Indian price and availability of the phone, but it is expected to retail for around Rs 50,000. The device will be available in a handful of attractive hues.
