Sony is expected to refresh the lineup of its flagship series Xperia XZ with the launch of the Xperia XZ4 smartphone at the forthcoming tech trade show MWC 2019 in Barcelona. The device has been in and out of the rumour mill for the past few weeks. Most recently, the specifications of the handset – including its chipset, display, software, and configurations – were leaked. Now, details about the Xperia XZ4’s camera have surfaced online. The handset is tipped to be the world’s first smartphone with a 52-megapixel camera.
As reported by spotted by Simahoinfo, reveals that the premium Sony Xperia XZ4 will flaunt triple rear cameras. The setup will include a whopping 52-megapixel (f/1.6) primary sensor – the highest on any smartphone breaking the 48-megapixel benchmark set by Redmi Note 7 and Huawei View 20. The sensor will allegedly be paired with a 16-megapixel f/2.6 telephoto lens and a 0.3-megapixel f/1.4 ToF camera. The latter’s purpose is to help phone with Augmented Reality (AR) and raise the speed of autofocus. The LED flash for low light photography could be placed at the top of the camera module.
Don’t get too excited here as the leak could be a hoax. It’s worth mentioning that the image taken by the source is a render based on CAD drawings that were previously leaked. Since they don’t reflect the final hardware design, we’d advise the take the news with a pinch of salt.
To recall on the specifications of Xperia XZ4, it’s rumoured to flaunt a 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED screen along with a tall aspect ratio of 21:9. The handset is expected to be driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset, accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It could boot Android 9 Pie out of the box and fuel by a beefy 4,000mAh battery. The Xperia XZ4 is also expected to offer IP68 water- and dust-resistant rating and come in Blue, Black, Silver, and Purple shades.
