Tata Motors has launched the Tata Nexon EV MAX in India, which is immediately available for bookings online and at dealerships. The vehicle comes as an update to the existing Tata Nexon EV model and brings along improvements in crucial areas – range, safety, performance and luxury. The Tata Nexon EV MAX is set to cater to a larger audience and will open up green mobility options for consumers willing to travel longer distances. Tata Nexon EV MAX will join the current Tata Nexon brand which at the moment has petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options across a variety of variants.

The Tata Nexon EV MAX brings along a 40.5kWh battery pack, faster 7.2kW charging, ARAI-certified range of 437km, all-four disc brakes and more features. 

Tata Nexon EV MAX price, availability 

The Tata Nexon EV MAX with its improved mechanicals and feature set commands a higher price tag as compared to the existing model. The Nexon EV MAX starts at Rs 17.74 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base XZ+ trim and goes up to Rs 19.24 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top of the line XZ+ Lux trim. The Tata Nexon EV MAX also packs in an 8 year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery and the motor.

The Tata Nexon EV MAX will be available for bookings online via Tata Motors’ official website as well as at dealerships across the country. Tata Motors’ also claims to have an ever-growing network of dealer touchpoints with additional 70 cities with dealerships coming up this year. Currently, the company has a presence in 75+ cities and has 210+ touchpoints in them. Tata Motors is also closely working with Tata Motors and has successfully established 1300+ charging points in major cities and major inter-city routes with more in the pipeline. 

Tata Nexon EV MAX specifications 

The Tata Nexon EV MAX will sit parallel to the current generation of Tata Nexon EV and will offer up a longer range alternative to buyers with such kind of a requirement. The Nexon EV MAX aims to deliver an ARAI-certified range of about 437km on a single charge thanks to its 33 percent larger battery pack. The vehicle ditches the 30.2kWh battery pack in favour of a liquid-cooled 40.5kWh battery pack.

The Tata Nexon EV MAX now also gets multi-mode regenerative braking that enables users to set the intensity of brake energy cooperation. The highest level of the regen allows single-pedal driving and also features brake light activation to alert rear traffic. The car also features quicker charging with a new optional 7.2kW AC fast charger that can be purchased along with the car. This will provide faster charging as compared to the normal 3.3kW charger. Moreover, the car can be charged from 0-80 percent at around 56 minutes using a public 50kW fast charger.

The Tata Nexon EV MAX also boasts of a more powerful and more efficient Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that is capable of delivering a peak power of 105kW or 143PS and a peak torque of 250Nm. Tata Motors claims that the Nexon EV MAX can sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in under 9 seconds. The top speed has also seen a bump with the top speed now being electronically limited at 140kmph.

In terms of safety, the Tata Nexon EV MAX gets an Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with i-VBAC, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, all 4 disc brake setup, IP67 rated battery pack and motor, and more. 

On the insides, there’s a new makarana beige interior colour scheme, new leatherette seats and front-seat ventilation, jewelled control knob with an active mode display, air purifier, wireless charger, auto-dimming IRVM, smartwatch integration, and cruise control. These are part of the thirty new features that Tata has integrated into the Nexon EV MAX. One can also expect the ride and handling to be similar to the outgoing car thanks to the 50:50 weight distribution and low centre of gravity. The Nexon EV MAX will also get a signature Intensi Teal colour that is specific to the car. Along with that, colour options will include Daytona Grey and Pristine White. The car gets a dual-tone paint scheme as standard.
