Tecno is pushing a new OTA update to some of its smartphones in India, adding a new feature dubbed Memory Fusion. The Memory Fusion feature is virtual RAM, which is already present on many other smartphones and extends the available RAM capacity by repurposing some of the empty internal storage. Using Memory Fusion, Tecno POVA Neo users can add up to 5GB of virtual RAM, giving users a total of 11GB of RAM. Meanwhile, Tecno Camon 18, Spark 8T, and Spark 8 Pro will be offering up to 3GB of virtual RAM after installing the OTA update. To get the Memory Fusion feature on your phone, users simply need to update their phone to the latest software version.

As per Tecno, smartphone users will be able to experience much better performance thanks to the virtual RAM introduced by Memory Fusion. In fact, the company claims the app startup time increases by as much as 80 percent with the boost in RAM. The company further claims an up to two-fold rise in the number of backend cache applications.

“To address multitasking needs, Tecno’s ‘Memory Fusion’ feature allows users to borrow additional storage capacity and allot it to RAM whenever needed, quickly and conveniently,” says the company in a press release.
