If you are looking for your next smartphone, and wondering whether or not you should wait a little bit more, you are at the right place. We’ve carefully selected a list of mobile phones that are expected to land in the country in the month of August.

Reliance JioPhone

JioPhone official

At the recent Annual General Meeting of Reliance, RIL’s directors Akash and Isha Ambani took the stage to showcase the features of the much-awaited JioPhone. The brand will basically be offering the phone free, albeit with a Rs 1,500 deposit which will be refunded after three years – to avoid any misuse. The JioPhone’s trial run will start on August 15th and it will go on pre-booking starting August  24th. Since the phone is a basic device, there is not much to its spec sheet. With some impressive features and support for 4G VoLTE, Reliance is aiming to bridge the digital divide with its ‘India ka smartphone‘. It comes with a 2.4-inch colour display, a T9 keypad, a textured back panel and a dedicated torchlight, plus support for voice commands. Jio isn’t the only brand to revive our interest in feature phones. In fact, the credit goes to Nokia, which under its new parent, HMD Global, made a big comeback in the market with the nostalgia-inducing Nokia 3310 (2017) (review). The brand also announced a trio of Android powered smartphones called the 3, 5 and 6. But so far, only the budget Nokia 3 (first impressions) has went on sale. However, after some delays, both the mid-range smartphones are slated to come out in the month of August. The Nokia 5 and 6 boot stock Android Nougat in its purest form. The Nokia 5 (first impressions) is smaller of the two and offers a 5.2-inch HD display. It’s backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 505 GPU.

The Nokia 6 on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a fingerprint sensor. It’s also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, but gets a higher RAM capacity of 3GB

Lenovo K7 Note

The Chinese handset maker has been teasing the upcoming successor to the Lenovo K6 Note (review) for a while now. Considering that the K Note series is known for power-packed budget offerings, we can expect the upcoming K7 Note to continue the trend. While there is no information regarding the specifications of the handset, it is to be expected that the smartphone will come with at least Snapdragon 630 or the Snapdragon 660 processor, judging by the video teaser released by the brand. This handset is also expected to arrive next month with a sub-Rs 15k price tag.

LG Q6 / LG Q8

LG Q8 post

While the Korean handset maker LG is gearing up to launch its next flagship LGV30 next month, it has announced the watered-down variants of the G6 (review) and V20 (review) in the form of the Q6 and Q8, respectively. For the uninitiated, the LG V20 came with a secondary display and dual camera as its mainstay and the G6 was known for its bezel-less design. All these features have been retained by the more affordable variants as well, as the Q6 resembles the G6, whereas the Q8 comes with a dual camera setup and a secondary display above the primary one (just like the V20). The LG Q8 features a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP dual camera and 5MP front camera. The LG Q6 on the other hand, features a Snapdragon 435 SoC and a 5.5-inch display. We can expect both of them or at least the Q6 to land in India to fill the gap for LG in the mid-tier segment.

BlackBerry KEYone
