HMD Global, the licensee of the Nokia brand, has already made an entry in India with the nostalgia inducing Nokia 3310 (review). It then went on to launch its affordable Android offering in the form of the Nokia 3 (unboxing) and it was received quite well too. However, the onus of the Nokia brand’s comeback is on the Nokia 5 (first impressions) and the Nokia 6, which are scheduled to be launched in early to mid-July. The 5.2-inch Nokia 5 utilises Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 SoC, coupled with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13MP primary snapper, an 8MP front shooter and 3,000mAh battery. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, features 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear snapper, 8MP front shooter and 3,000mAh battery. Both smartphones come with stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the Google Assistant baked into it. While the Nokia 5 will be an offline exclusive like its younger sibling, Nokia 6 will be sold online only.

Honor recently announced that it will bring the Honor 8 Pro to India in the first half of July. With the USP of the device being premium metal unibody and dual camera module on the rear panel, it will compete directly with the OnePlus 5. This handset is pretty large with 5.7-inch Quad HD display dominating the front panel. Moving to the performance, the handset comes with a 2.4GHz octa-core Hi-Silicon Kirin 960 processor, mated to a beefy 6GB of RAM. The rear panel has twin 12MP camera modules with RGB and monochrome sensors, respectively. One of the highlights of this camera is that it is capable of capturing a 3D model of an object. Other than these, this device gets Android Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top, a fingerprint sensor and a 4,000mAh battery.

Moto has recently teased a battery-centric device, which is assumed to be the Moto E4 Plus with a beefy 5,000mAh battery powering it. It is being speculated that the handset will land in the Indian market in the coming month followed by its younger sibling. The budget offering from the brand comes with an all metal unibody design with a water-repellent coating, stock Android Nougat operating system and home button cum fingerprint scanner on the front panel. Coming to the innards of the device, there is a Snapdragon 427 processor, 2GB of RAM and the powerful battery. Shutterbugs will be glad to notice the 13MP rear camera and 5MP front shooter. In line with the Moto E series, the new handset will be priced in the range of Rs 10,000.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2

The successor to the hugely popular Mi Max phablet is also expected to launch in the country in the coming month. The Mi Max 2 will come with the power efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4GB of RAM accompanying it. This top-end budget phablet will get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat treatment from the maker with MIUI interface running atop. The front panel of the device will be dominated by the same 6.44-inch full HD IPS display from last year. On the imaging front, the handset boasts of a 12MP snapper on rear and 5MP on the front. Also, while the profile of the handset remains on the sleeker side, the battery under the hood is actually bigger than its predecessor (5,300mAh vs 4,850mAh). With a spec sheet like this, if Xiaomi prices it under Rs 20k, the handset might become an even bigger hit than the Mi Max.
