A majority of these phone launches are expected to launch in India next month. With such interesting launches lined up for the month of May, we have curated this list of top smartphones that can be expected to land in the country. Let’s get started.

Huawei P20 Lite / P20 Pro

Huawei recently announced the P20 Pro (first impressions) flagship along with the P20 Lite (first impressions) in India, both of which will go on sale on Amazon India starting May 3rd. The P20 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch display with full HD+ resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It gets 2.36GHz octa-core Huawei Kirin 970 processor mated to 6GB of RAM and 128GB built-in storage. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. However, the biggest highlight of the flagship is a Leica-branded 40-megapixel + 20-megapixel + 8-megapixel setup on the rear panel and a 24-megapixel shooter.

As for the P20 Lite, it ships with a smaller 5.84-inch FHD+ display. Driving the performance is an octa-core HiSilicone Kirin 659 processor mated to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It sports a 16MP + 2MP rear camera and 24MP selfie shooter. It also boots the EMUI 8.0 based on the Android Oreo and runs on a 3,000mAh battery. 

ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 (first impressions) is a loaded mid-ranger with a 6-inch, 18:9 display bearing a full HD resolution. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, the handset is available in two variants – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. For imaging, it flaunts a 13MP + 5MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. Powering the handset is a massive 5,000mAh battery. The phone will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart, starting May 3rd. 

OnePlus 6

OnePlus has scheduled an event for May 17th in Mumbai, where the brand will be launching its latest flagship. While not much is known about the handset at the moment, OnePlus has confirmed display notch, glass design and Snapdragon 845 SoC. Further, we can expect that the OnePlus 6 will be offered in multiple variants with RAM and storage up to 8GB and 256GB, respectively. We will know more details when the handset goes official, though we do know that it’ll be available to buy via Amazon India. 

Xiaomi Mi A2

mi_6x_story_2Xiaomi has finally gone ahead and launched its much-anticipated smartphone – the Mi 6X – in China this month. The smartphone is expected to launch in India as the Mi A2 running Android One. It features a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 ratio and an FHD+ resolution. Driving the performance of the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. Xiaomi is offering the device in three configurations 4GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM / 128GB storage. In the camera department, the phone sports 20MP + 12MP shooters at the back and a 20MP selfie camera. Powering the show is a 3,010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Honor 10

Earlier this month, Huawei’s sub-brand launched its flagship device, the Honor 10, at an event in China. The successor to the Honor 9 (first impressions) was also spotted on the Indian certification website, BIS hinting towards its imminent launch in the country. Borrowing its design cues from Huawei P20 series of smartphones, the Honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch LCD display with a cut-out and a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. Powering the device is the top-end Kirin 970 processor mated to 6GB RAM. It will be offered in two storage variants 64GB and 128GB. For imaging, the handset gets a dual-camera module at the rear with 24MP + 16MP shooters and a 24MP front snapper. Other features include EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, a 3,400mAh battery, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

Moto G6 series / Moto E5 series

Motorola launched its latest Moto G series smartphones and fifth-generation Moto E phones at an event held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. These smartphones bring 18:9 displays and glass-sandwich design for the first time in the brand’s G and E range. The next-gen Moto G series comprise the G6 Play, and dual rear camera-toting G6 and G6 Plus. The E series also includes the Moto E5, E5 Play and E5 Plus, with all of them offering massive batteries. While Motorola has not revealed the availability details of these smartphones yet, it has announced that they will roll out across regions over coming months, so we can expect that India is also on the list.

Samsung Galaxy A6

According to some reports, Samsung is planning to revive its Galaxy A series lineup with the launch of the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+. A recent report revealed that the A6 might be unveiled globally in India. According to rumours, the Samsung Galaxy A6 is expected to sport a 5.6-inch HD+ Infinity Display. The phone is said to be powered by an octa-core Exynos processor, clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. As far as imagery is concerned, the handset is speculated to offer a 16MP rear camera and a pair of snappers at the front. It’s likely to run Android 8.0 Oreo and powered by 3,000mAh battery.
