Toyota Innova Hycross price, specifications, features

The Toyota Innova Hycross is a stark departure from the Innovas of the past and brings along modern technologies with reduced carbon footprint and improved performance. Toyota has already started taking bookings for Innova Hycross, and prices are expected to be announced sometime in January. The new Innova Hycross for the first time is based on a monocoque construction and is based on Toyota’s global TNGA-C platform. The new Self Charging Hybrid Electric powertrain too now drives the front wheels instead of the rear.

  • Monocoque chassis with FWD setup
  • 186BHP Strong Hybrid: 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds and 21.1kmpl fuel economy
  • 174BHP Petrol ICE Powertrain with CVT
  • 7/8 seating, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, 10.1-inch touchscreen, ADAS

The new Innova Hycross gets Toyota’s 5th generation strong hybrid tech (M20A-FXS) technology which consists of a 2.0l petrol engine and an electric motor. The 2.0l petrol engine generates 152hp of max power and 187Nm of max torque. This when combined with the electric motor generates a combined power output of 186bhp. The strong hybrid version of the Innova Hycross promises to return a certified fuel economy of 21.1kmpl. The Innova Hycross can also travel from 0 to 100kmph in under 9.5 seconds. This powertrain will get four variants, namely ZX, ZX (O), VX 8 seater, and VX 7 seater.

The Innova Hycross will also use a simple petrol ICE in the form of a 1,987cc engine that produces 174hp of peak power and 197Nm of peak torque. This powertrain will be available in GX 8 seater, GX 7 seater, G 8 seater, and G 7 seater variants. All the petrol-powered models will be mated to a CVT automatic transmission. This also marks the first time when the Innova does not get a manual transmission option.

The Innova Hycross measures 4,755mm in length and 1,850mm in width, and 2,850mm in wheelbase which makes it longer than the outgoing Innova Crysta in every aspect. The appearance of the Innova Hycross has also moved to a more substantial and rugged SUV look that could appeal to SUV buyers. The stance of the Innova Hycross has been visually enhanced with a higher bonnet line, sharper creases, a stronger shoulder line, high ground clearance, and beefed-up wheel arches with cladding. The Innova Hycross also rides on a larger set of 10-spoke alloys with a special chrome finish and thicker rubber.

The interiors have been upgraded with the inclusion of a new floating 10.1-inch central infotainment system, semi-digital instrumentation with a 4.2-inch coloured MID, dash-mounted gear lever, electronic parking brake, ventilated front seats, Chestnut Brown leatherette upholstery, soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door cards, ambient lighting, power 2nd-row seats with ottoman mode, dual-zone AC, etc. Overall the feature list too has lengthened considerably and now includes a powered tailgate, auto LED headlamps with auto high beam control, LED taillamps, and more. The Innova also gets a full panoramic sunroof for the first time.

The Innova Hycross also debuts the company’s ADAS suite called the Toyota Safety Sense technology. This system consists of a lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and more. Other safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Traction Control, and ESP. Toyota will also offer proper 3-point seatbelts for all of the 8 passengers that the Innova Hycross can accommodate.

Toyota is expected to announce the prices of the new Innova Hycross in January 2023. It is expected that the new Innova Hycross could be priced from Rs 22 lakh to Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom). The Innova Hycross can now be booked at any Toyota dealership for a token amount of Rs 50,000.
