In a bid to take on spam calls, Truecaller has announced a new feature touted as Auto-Block Spam for iPhone users with the iOS 18 update. This feature aims to enhance the user experience by letting them block scams and phishing-related calls. Notably, in June, Truecaller introduced the AI Call Scanner feature to tackle such calls. Here’s more about the new Auto-Block Spam feature.

How to use Truecaller Auto-Block Spam feature on iPhones

The new Auto-Block Spam feature helps users avoid spam calls by either blocking only the top spammers or blocking all numbers identified as spam by Truecaller. However, it notes that this may include legitimate calls.

Notably, these incoming calls will not ring but will show up as missed calls in your log, labeled “Scammer” or “Fraud” by Truecaller. It is worth noting that the company uses its caller ID database from other users to create a list of top spammers.

However, this newly announced feature will be available for iPhone users with iOS 18 who have subscribed to the Truecaller Premium, which is priced at Rs 99 monthly and Rs 899 yearly for iPhone users in the country.

Truecaller Auto-Block Spam feature: how to activate

The all-new Truecaller Auto-Block Spam feature can be easily set up on iPhones. Here’s what you have to do.

  • First thing, iPhone users need to update their phone to iOS 18.
  • Then, they will need to make sure that they are subscribed to Truecaller Premium.
  • Once done, they can open the Truecaller application and go to the Protect tab.
  • Then, simply toggle the Auto-Block to set up the feature.

Meanwhile, the Truecaller AI Call Scanner feature, launched earlier this year, allows users to detect AI voices in real-time during phone calls by offering a tool that analyses the voice patterns of incoming calls to determine if AI generated them. Notably, the company has been launching security features from time to time as scams and phishing-related calls have been on the rise in India for the past few years.
