Twitter has expanded the highly-anticipated Fleets feature to Indian users. This is similar to Snapchat stories and allows users to share temporary photos, videos, Tweets that disappear after 24 hours. Talking about similarities with Stories, product lead and co-founder of Periscope, Kayvon Beykpour said, “There are many similarities with the Stories format that will feel familiar to people. There are also a few intentional differences to make the experience more focused on sharing and seeing people’s thoughts.” Fleets will be accessible at the top of the Twitter Feed by tapping the avatar or at the account’s profile page. The feature was under testing in Brazil and Italy.
Furthermore, followers can react to Fleets through DMs using Emojis and continue the conversation. Replies and reactions appear in DMs along with the Fleet they are responding to. For users to create a Fleet, one has to tap the avatar on the top left of the Twitter feed. You can either add text, photo or video as Fleet. Users will have to swipe down to see newer Fleets and swipe up to see older ones. This is different from Instagram Stories, where you will have to swipe left or right to view them. Twitter Fleets will be available for both iOS and Android gradually in the next few days.
