Vivo initially announced Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 in September 2024, highlighting a range of improvements over its predecessor, Funtouch OS 14. Among the key upgrades were the introduction of the Priority Scheduling model, which Vivo claims boosts average app startup speeds by approximately 15 percent, and Memory Enhancement Technology, designed to increase compression speeds by 40 percent.
Now, the company has begun rolling out a new set of AI-powered features to smartphones running Funtouch OS 15.
Funtouch OS 15 gets new AI features
- The latest Funtouch OS 15 update brings a feature called AI Erase that lets users remove distracting elements from an image. This feature was first announced by Google back in 2021. It is available as Magic Eraser on Pixel smartphones.
- Vivo is also bringing AI Live Cutout feature to Funtouch OS 15. This feature lets user isolate a subject in an image and then use it elsewhere in other apps.
- Another AI-based feature coming to Vivo smartphones is AI Transcript Assist. This feature converts voice recordings into text. It also shows a text-based summary of the recorded voice message.
- Another feature coming to Vivo smartphones is AI Screen Translation. This feature translates text written in a particular language into users’ preferred languages. Users can also listen to the translated text in the language of their choice.
- Funtouch OS 15’s latest update also brings AI Call Translation feature to the eligible Vivo smartphones. It translates conversations happening over a call in real time. It also transcribes and translates conversations for communication across languages.
- The latest update also brings AI Photo Enhance feature to the Vivo smartphones that enhances the colour, clarity and brightness of images.
- With its latest update, Vivo is bringing Google’s Circle to Search to its smartphones. It lets users search for content online by circling text or image on their screens.
- Vivo smartphones are also getting an AI Live Text feature. It lets users extract text from any image and paste in apps such as the Notes app, WhatsApp or an emailing app.
- Lastly, the AI Note Assist feature turns notes written by users in various formats such as summaries and to-do lists. It can also translate the text saved in a note.
It is worth mentioning that Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 is already available on a bunch of new and old Vivo smartphones. Some of these include the Vivo X100 series, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, Vivo X90 series, Vivo V30 series, Vivo V40, Vivo T3x, Vivo X200 series, Vivo V50, Vivo V50e, Vivo T4 and the Vivo T4x.
