“Vivo APEX 2019 leaked images show the smartphone will not have a selfie camera in the display, suggesting a pop-up or slider design may be used”
The Vivo APEX 2019 smartphone will be showcased by the Chinese brand on January 24th. It will be a concept phone that the company claims will bring about a new revolution in smartphone design. Now, images of the upcoming Vivo APEX 2019 have leaked online, giving us a look at the smartphone’s design. It also shows the handset will have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Images of Vivo APEX 2019 shared by Leaks Vietnam on social media platforms show the smartphone will have a tall display with seemingly no bezels on the sides as well as the top. The chin at the bottom too is narrower than what see in smartphones today. Conspicuous by its absence if the selfie camera, which is neither housed in a notch nor an in-display hole. It remains to be seen whether Vivo will use a pop-up camera, slider design, or a second screen to accommodate the camera for selfies and video calls.
At the bottom of the display, we can see the impression of a fingerprint, suggesting the Vivo APEX 2019 will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, there is no information regarding the back so other design features remain to be seen.
Vivo is hyping up the design of the APEX 2019 smartphone as ‘The Waterdrop’, with rounded corners hinted at in a previous teaser image. The teaser from last week suggested a wraparound display, but the new leaked image suggests the effect will likely be reached by eliminating the bezels. Leaked renders in the past have hinted that there will be no buttons on the sides. This should not be a surprise since we are still quite some time away from true wraparound displays. We don’t have to wait too long to get the first look at Vivo’s upcoming concept phone, so stay tuned and we will bring to you all the information.
