“Vivo APEX 2020 concept phone comes with a 120-degree curved display, an in-display selfie camera, and a 16MP telephoto lens”
Vivo APEX 2020 concept phone is now officially unveiled, as announced. It doesn’t come with any buttons or ports; instead, it relies on pressure-sensing capacitive buttons and has a 120-degree curved edge-less display. In comparison, the Vivo NEX 3 had 90 degrees waterfall display. Thanks to the Screen SoundCasting tech, the screen works as a speaker. There’s also an in-display camera and Vivo says that it has increased the light transmission (by six times) to the part of the screen where the camera is placed, compared to the rest of the screen. This is said to reduce optical interference, diffraction, and stray flashes.
The Vivo APEX 2020 flaunts a 6.45-inch full HD+ FullView display with 2,330 x 1,080p pixels resolution. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with Adreno 650 GPU and 5G connectivity, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB onboard storage. It boots Android 10 OS. As for the optics, there is a 16MP camera on the front that uses 4-in-1 pixel binning and software algorithms to fine-tune the image quality. On the rear, the Vivo APEX 2020 has a 48MP primary snapper with gimbal-level stabilisation and is claimed to have 200 percent extended angle of stabilisation compared to regular OIS.
There is a 16MP periscope camera with 5x to 7.5x optical zoom, two fixed lenses and two moving lenses. Since there are no ports and buttons, the Vivo APEX 2020 relies on wireless charging- it has a 60W Super FlashCharge that can top up a 2,000mAh battery in about 20 minutes. The Vivo APEX 2020 won’t be commercially available for everyone to purchase, but bits and pieces of its tech should make its way to 2020 Vivo flagships soon.
