Vivo NEX 3s 5G with extremely curved display, Snapdragon 865 SoC passes TENAA

“The Vivo NEX 3s 5G is deemed to be the production variant of the APEX 2020 concept phone that was recently unveiled”

A new Vivo phone has cleared TENAA certification, giving us a glimpse at the smartphone’s design as well as specifications. The listing has been further corroborated by Weibo user Digital Chat Station, which states that the device, bearing model number V1950A, will be launched soon as the Vivo NEX 3s 5G, and is actually the production form of the recently unveiled Vivo APEX 2020 concept phone. As a result, the Vivo NEX 3s 5G may turn out to be a rather interesting smartphone, and may come with specifications that make it stand out from the competition.

According to the reported Vivo Nex 3s 5G specifications, the handset will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and offer both standalone and non-standalone 5G connectivity. One major attractive point could be the display, which is said to be a dual-curved AMOLED panel that bends 120 degrees at both the edges to create a ‘Waterfall’ design, much like the APEX 2020. Since the display glass covers both the edges, it is said to come with virtual, capacitive buttons that will react upon pressure applied on the sides. The display on the Vivo V1950A that appeared on TENAA features a 6.89-inch display and screen resolution of 2,256 x 1,080 pixels.

The Vivo NEX 3s 5G will reportedly come with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB native storage. In terms of cameras, the Vivo NEX 3s 5G appears to feature a triple rear camera setup, with a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel telephoto and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens,. Up front, the phone will offer a 16-megapixel selfie camera that will come with a pop-out mechanism design. The front camera layout is one of the areas where the production form of the phone appears to differ from its APEX 2020 concept, which touts an under-display front camera. This makes sense as the under screen selfie camera technology is not viable for commercial production as yet.

The Vivo NEX 3s 5G unsurprisingly runs on Android 10, while the battery is said to bear 4,250mAh capacity and support 55W fast charging. The rear camera setup is arranged in a circular camera module akin to the OnePlus 7T, while the NEX 3s 5G appears to get an interesting orange finish that will likely be just one of the range of colours that the phone comes with. While a launch date for the phone is not available yet, Digital Chat Station’s Weibo post states that it will be available soon. Given that the Vivo NEX 3 5G is priced between CNY 5,698 and CNY 6,198 (~Rs 59,200-64,400), the NEX 3s 5G is likely to be priced at around the same mark.
