[Exclusive] Vivo Pad 2 design, specifications revealed ahead of launch

Highlights
  • Vivo Pad 2 will feature a larger display compared to its predecessor.
  • The tablet will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC.
  • The Vivo Pad 2 will also get a higher refresh rate and a bigger battery compared to the original Vivo Pad.

The Vivo Pad 2 is set to launch in China soon as the follow-up to the original Vivo Pad. The timing seems right considering the first Vivo tablet came out in April 2022. While Vivo is yet to officially confirm this, the Vivo Pad 2 is believed to go official on April 20th alongside the Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip (via MySmartPrice). The upcoming Vivo Pad 2 was spotted on Geekbench recently with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor and Android 13 OS. Now, 91mobile brings you your best look at the tablet through a high-quality render as well as its complete specifications, courtesy of industry insider Ishan Agarwal.

Vivo Pad 2 render shows off dual rear cameras, three colour options

The render (seen above) shows the rear panel of the Vivo Pad 2. We can see a circular camera module housing two camera sensors and an LED flash. We also see the pogo pins on the bottom of the rear panel for attaching the keyboard folio. The upcoming tablet will seemingly be available in three colour options: Grey, Blue, and Purple.

As you can see from the image above, Vivo has made some subtle changes to the design of the Vivo Pad 2. It looks clear with the rear camera module missing the rectangular housing that was seen on the predecessor. The placement of the pogo pins has also changed likely due to the change in the size of the tablet. It is, after all, wider now thanks to a larger screen. Speaking of which, let’s talk about the specifications of the Vivo Pad 2.

Vivo Pad 2 specifications revealed ahead of launch

The Vivo Pad 2 will feature a 12.1-inch LCD display, which is bigger compared to the 11-inch display on the original Vivo Pad. It will be a 2.8K display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate, according to Agarwal. The tablet measures 266×191.6×6.6mm and weighs 580 grams.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset will power the Vivo Pad 2 and this is also backed by a Geekbench listing that was spotted earlier this week. The tablet will come in 8GB and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM variants, Agarwal claims. It will also be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB UFS3.1 storage options.

The rear camera system includes a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro lens. There’s an 8MP sensor at the front for selfies and video calls. The tablet houses a 10,000mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. Other features include OriginOS 3 which is optimised for the tablet, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3.

For your reference, the original Vivo Pad comes with an 11-inch 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 870 SoC, a 13MP+8MP rear camera system, an 8,040mAh battery with 44W charging support, and it weighs 489 grams.

Overall, it looks like the upcoming will come with a few upgrades under the hood, including a bigger display, battery unit, and a faster chipset. However, the shift from an 8MP ultra-wide to a 2MP macro lens seems like a bit of a downgrade. We will, however, reserve our judgment until the launch of the Vivo Pad 2, which should happen later this month.
