“Vivo is expected to launch the V15 as the S1 in its home market of China soon”
Vivo recently unveiled the V15 smartphone in Thailand, and will be releasing the handset in India on March 15th. However, As per leaksters from China, the company will be launching the Vivo V15 in its home market of China as the Vivo S1, its first S series handset. The alleged Vivo S1 is expected to launch alongside the Vivo X27 and Vivo X27 Pro on March 19th, both of which appear to be close siblings of the V15 Pro (review), which landed in India recently. Now just a few days ahead of the unveiling, a purported render, as well as the spec sheet and pricing of the Vivo S1, has surfaced on the Chinese social networking website Weibo.
The leaked specifications hint that the Vivo S1 will feature a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with full HD+ (2340 x 1080) resolution. The processor of the handset will be downgraded to a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC as compared to the Snapdragon 675 expected on the Vivo X27. Configuration-wise, the Vivo S1 is believed to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. At the rear, the phone is said to employ a triple camera setup comprising of a 12MP main camera, an 8MP secondary shooter, and a 5MP third sensor. On the front, the device will have a pop-up selfie snapper.
As per the leaks, the Vivo S1 will have a 3,940mAh battery with 18W fast charging capability, and will run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. Lastly, the source suggests that the handset will be priced around RMB 2,000 (~Rs 20,800) That said, do note that none of this is officially confirmed yet, especially the existence of the new S series.
