Vivo is preparing to bring back its S-series smartphones to India after a gap of six years, and 91mobiles has now learned fresh details about the upcoming Vivo S2. Thanks to industry sources, we now have an early look at the phone’s design and some of its key specifications. The latest details arrive shortly after the storage variants, colour names and tentative pricing leaked online.

Vivo S2 design and variants

The promotional material obtained by us confirms the pill-shaped rear camera module, which closely resembles the design seen on the Vivo X300 FE. This was expected after the Vivo S2 poster leaked online, subtly hinting at the pill island within the word “Soon”. The phone will feature a 3D curved display, with Vivo highlighting its “flagship-level design” and camera module as key selling points. The module houses two large camera rings alongside a smaller circular element, likely for the flash. Vivo’s branding is placed vertically towards the lower-left portion of the back panel, keeping the rest of the design clean and uncluttered. The front will feature curved edges for a more premium in-hand feel.

Interestingly, the camera island itself matches the colour of the rear panel on all three variants, giving the design a more seamless appearance rather than using a contrasting black camera module, a trend increasingly seen in premium smartphones. According to earlier information, the Vivo S2 will be available in Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze, and Silk White colour options, which we see in the image.

Earlier today, a report claimed the Vivo S2 will launch in 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants. The tipster also said internal retail listings show demo units priced at Rs 38,000 and Rs 42,000, while the 8GB + 128GB model is internally listed at Rs 43,000. These are said to be internal listing prices rather than final retail prices, with official pricing still subject to change. Previous reports had suggested a launch price between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000.

Leaked specifications

91mobiles has also learned that the Vivo S2 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 chipset. The same processor powers the Vivo V70 FE and the previous-generation Vivo V60e. The promotional material further reveals a 50MP Sony rear camera, along with 4K video recording support on both the front and rear cameras. The rest of the specifications are unknown for now.

Based on our review of the Vivo V70 FE, the Dimensity 7360 delivers a reliable day-to-day experience. Routine tasks such as messaging, browsing, social media, and app switching run smoothly, although the chipset is not designed for sustained heavy workloads like extended gaming, rapid-fire photography, or intensive multitasking. That makes it better suited to casual users than performance enthusiasts.

The Vivo S2 marks the return of Vivo’s S-series in India after the Vivo S1 lineup, which debuted in 2019 at a much lower price point. If the leaked pricing is true, the S2 would represent a significant move upmarket. It is expected to take on rivals such as the upcoming OnePlus Nord 6, Motorola Edge 70 Pro, Realme 16 Pro series, and Vivo’s own V70 FE.

Buyers considering a phone in the Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 segment may also weigh discounted flagship models during festive sales. Until Vivo officially announces the launch date and pricing, waiting a little longer could help buyers make a more informed decision.
