“The Vivo S5 is the upcoming mid-range offering from the brand, with a punch-hole display, 48MP triple cameras, 4,000mAh battery, and more”
Vivo will be taking the wraps off its next-gen S-series smartphone, called the Vivo S5, on November 14th in China. However, ahead of that, the company has shared a teaser of the phone that reveals the colour options it’ll be available in. The image reveals the Vivo S5 in black, purple, and sky blue hues, with gradient finish for a premium look. The back panel of the handset, as seen on teaser shared previously, also seems to feature a glass layer, with a diamond-shaped camera module. The Vivo S5’s fascia, meanwhile, will feature an edge-to-edge screen with a punch-hole, which is home to the selfie camera.
Vivo S5 specifications
The Vivo S5 is expected to be a mid-range offering from the brand, with an octa-core Snapdragon 712 SoC clocked at 2.3GHz chipset ticking at its core. This could be paired with an 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB user-expandable storage via microSD card. Rumours are rife that the phone may flaunt a 6.44-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. For photography, there may be a 48-megapixel primary sensor, paired with an 8-megapixel secondary shooter, a 5-megapixel third lens, a 2-megapixel quad-camera setup at the back. The phone’s front camera could sport a 32-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
Software-wise, the Vivo S5 is likely to boot Android 9.0 Pie with the company’s FunTouch OS skin on top. A 4,000mAh battery with Vivo’s Dual-Engine fast charging could fuel the handset. The S5 will most likely ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner and standard connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, headphone jack, and USB Type-C port. Alongside the regular variant, the Chinese firm will be also selling Vivo S5 Cai Xukun Custom Gift Box Edition, which is up for pre-orders, in the country.
