Vivo S5 smartphone has been officially unveiled in China, as promised. The handset has a new diamond-shaped module at the back which houses quad cameras backed by features like portrait mode, short videos, Super HDR, Night Mode, and AR shots. It has a punch-hole Super AMOLED display with an 8th generation in-display fingerprint sensor for security. Vivo S5 has a screen to body ratio of 91.8 percent, which should offer immersive media consumption and gaming experience. The Vivo S5 also has support for Dual-Engine fast-charging support. It has a unique gradient finish and glass finish at the back.

Vivo S5 is priced at RMB 2,698 (around Rs 27,700) for the 8GB + 128GB and RMB 2,998 (around Rs 30,750) for the 8GB + 256GB, respectively. It comes in Ice White, Phantom Blue and Star Black colour options. The handset is currently up for pre-order in China and will go on sale on November 22nd. There is no word on the international availability of the Vivo S5 as of now.

It is powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SoC with Adreno 616 GPU. The handset comes in two variants, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB, with the storage being further expandable via microSD card. Software-wise, the Vivo S5 is likely to boot Android 9.0 Pie with the company’s FunTouch OS skin on top. Connectivity options include dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

For photography, the Vivo S5 features a quad-camera setup at the back consisting of a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP depth lens, and a 2MP macro lens. There is a 32MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. A 4,100mAh battery with 22.5W Vivo’s Dual-Engine fast charging fuels the handset. The Vivo S5 has an in-display fingerprint scanner for security. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC. It measures 157.9x 73.92 x 8.64mm and weighs 188 grams.
