Vivo S6 5G with dual punch-hole cameras to launch on March 31st

“Vivo S6 5G will likely come with a dual selfie camera setup and the Snapdragon 765G SoC”

Vivo is all set to announce its new smartphone in the Chinese market which will go by the name of Vivo S6 5G on March 31st. The official Vivo S6 5G launch date poster, which was spotted on Weibo, shows that the device will be a “5G selfie phone”. It is not immediately clear what this means, but the emphasis will be on the smartphone’s selfie cameras and 5G connectivity. The launch event is going to start at 7:30 PM local time (5:00 PM IST). As of right now, there is no word on when the device will make its way to India. The 5G support suggests the Vivo S6 5G could be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC, or a mid-range chipset like the Snapdragon 765G that comes with an integrated 5G modem.

Vivo S6 specifications

Since this is a 5G smartphone, the Vivo S6 could be powered by the Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC, or the Snapdragon 765G SoC or MediaTek Dimensity 1000 mid-range 5G SoCs. The smartphone may sport an AMOLED display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor for security, and a punch-hole design to house the front-facing camera.

Another leak about the device has shown that the phone will have a quad-camera layout with three lenses arranged vertically while a fourth lens is on the side. The cameras are on the top-center of the phone’s back and have a circular housing. While nothing can be confirmed at the moment, the Vivo S6 5G should be a significant update to last year’s Vivo S5.

As per previous leaks, the Vivo S6 5G will have a dual-selfie punch hole on the front at the upper-right corner. Vivo has shared a teaser that shows the device to have a type-C port and perhaps the absence of a headphone jack. The company also shared another video which reveals the Vivo S6 name, while also confirming it will support dual-mode SA and NSA 5G network. It is also believed that Chinese actor Liu Haoran may be the brand ambassador for the device.
