Vivo T3 Ultra Review

While both phones feature a premium design, the Vivo T3 Ultra focuses on minimalism, ergonomics, and a solid in-hand feel, while the Motorola Edge 50 Pro stands out with its stylish, curved design, and durable build.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro

The T3 Ultra has a slim profile, while the Edge 50 Pro appeals to those looking for a luxurious look. Both phones have an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water splashes, making them suitable for use in rain and underwater up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.

The Vivo T3 Ultra has a better and bigger 6.78-inch 3D curved 1.2K AMOLED panel than the Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s 10-bit 6.7-inch pOLED 3D curved screen. However, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro supports a 144Hz refresh rate compared to the Vivo T3 Ultra’s 120Hz refresh rate, offering a smoother viewing experience.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Display

On the other hand, the Vivo T3 Ultra has Schott Xensation Alpha protection to safeguard the screen from scratches and wear and tear. Overall, both phones offer a richer and smoother visual experience.

Vivo T3 Ultra vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: performance

The Vivo T3 Ultra, with its MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, offers more raw power and excels in CPU performance, making it better suited for demanding tasks. However, during our testing, it showed performance dips under heavy load, although the device performs well during general use.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro provides a smooth, reliable performance with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, excelling in daily tasks and gaming, but it’s not ideal for extended, high-stress usage due to heat buildup and performance drop-offs. Thus, the T3 Ultra edges out the Edge 50 Pro in terms of performance.

Vivo T3 Ultra vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: cameras

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers a better and more versatile camera setup than the Vivo T3 Ultra. While both phones have a 50MP primary sensor, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s triple-camera setup includes a 13MP ultrawide lean and a 10 telephoto lens that doubles as a macro shooter compared to the Vivo T3 Ultra’s 8MP ultrawide lens. Both phones feature a 50MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

During our testing, we found that the Vivo T3 Ultra excels in portrait photography and low-light conditions thanks to its Aura Light, but it struggles with indoor video flickering and can occasionally over-process images.

On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro delivers strong low-light shots and detailed portraits across different focal lengths, though it tends to overexpose selfies and show colour shifts with the telephoto lens.

Vivo T3 Ultra vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: battery and charging

While the Vivo T3 Ultra offers a larger 5,500mAh battery, providing solid battery life, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, despite having a smaller 4,500mAh battery, delivers a better score in the PCMark battery test. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro ran for 12 hours and 30 minutes while the Vivo T3 Ultra lasted 12 hours and 14 minutes in the battery test.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro also supports faster charging speeds with its 125W wired and 50W wireless charging options compared to the Vivo T3 Ultra’s 80W fast charging speed. In real-world testing, the Vivo T3 Ultra takes 47 minutes (38 minutes with fast charging mode enabled) to fully charge the device, whereas the Motorola Edge 50 Pro does the same in under 30 minutes.

Vivo T3 Ultra vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: software

Both phones ship with the latest version of Android out of the box. The Vivo T3 Ultra runs FuntouchOS based on Android 14, while the Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers a stock Android experience. Both company promises three major OS releases and four years of security patches with their phones.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Software

The Vivo T3 Ultra offers a simple, efficient software experience with limited AI features and smooth animations, while the Motorola Edge 50 Pro provides a more feature-rich experience with extensive connectivity options, customisation, and security tools like Moto Connect and Moto Secure.

Verdict

Overall, both phones offer remarkable performance across all the departments. The Vivo T3 Ultra has a better display panel and protection, a superior SoC, and better low-light performance than the Motorola Edge 50 Pro.

Meanwhile, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a smoother display, better battery backup, faster charging speed, more versatile camera setup, and cleaner software experience than the Vivo T3 Ultra.
